3,000,000,000,000 Miles Traveled at the United States in 2010

The United States’ Department of Transportation has revealing their latest data which is saying that the American drivers have reached more than 2.9 trillion miles traveled in last year. According to the Department, it is 0.7 percent increasing from 20.5 billion miles at the year of 2009, as well as being the highest traveled rate since 2007.

The biggest increase is experienced between Texas and Kentucky, which the miles traveled was up 1.4 percent last year, when the drivers were travelling 46.6 billion miles in that area in 2010. Meanwhile, the track between Delaware to Florida has experienced a 0.4 percent decrease compared to last year. They were only managed to reach 215 million of miles for the annual total of the locale.

Moreover, while the miles traveled in the United States had an increasing number, its traffic fatalities in 2010 were at its lowest number since 1950. Let’s see if next year the American can also do the increase, but I don’t think so as for next year, the gas prices are expected to be more expensive for $ 4 per gallon in the summer.

Smart ForTwo ED Coming in 2012

Smart ForTwo ED Coming in 2012

The next generation of Smart ForTwo Electric Drive will be a limited number of 250 units in the United States. This is the test program model which will be used by Daimler to gauge their consumer interest in a vehicle which is powered by a battery. The electric version of Fortwo is considered as expensive, with $ 599 per month and another $ 2,500 at the signing.

Actually, the next Smart ED will be offered under the lease plan as I mentioned above, but Smart has putted this car at $ 44,387. Actually, I am not very surprised with that high price tag, or with its astronomical lease rate. This is predictable as this Fortwo model is not a production electric vehicle, but it is a limited edition.

But after January 2012, the production model of this third generation of Fortwo electric will hit the streets. I am hoping that by that time, Smart has adjusted their price tag and offering this pint sized electric vehicle for a more reasonable pricing. Kicking Tires also reporting similar thing, where Smart plans to drop the price of this car.

Ford claims that this will be their new standard operating procedure for any of their upcoming products. The global design’s procedure itself was taken on board since almost three years ago.

The global design chief for the company, J Mays, and some other the design team for the vehicle will then choose from the proposals for the concept which is fitted with the next generation design of the Pony Car. Previously, the Ford’s design studio in the United States was solely responsible for the image of the vehicle. However, you must remember that Ford has done some success by gathering ideas from around the world.

For example, you can see the global Ranger design which was submitted by an artist in Australia with the pointers from Ford’s designers in Europe. Today, Ford is not telling anything about the time when we will able to see the next generation of Mustang, but Automotive News predicts for between 2014 and 2015.
